Delivering Scalable Fire Safety Across a Major Automotive Research Facility

Implementing advanced fire alarm monitoring solutions for Ford Dunton Technical Centre

Who Are Ford Dunton Technical Centre?

Ford Motor Company operates the Ford Dunton Technical Centre, one of Europe’s largest automotive research and development facilities. The site supports extensive engineering, testing, and development operations requiring highly reliable fire safety infrastructure capable of protecting employees, visitors, assets, and critical operational environments.

Overview

Drax Technology partnered with Honeywell and technical partner BDS Fire & Security to deliver an advanced fire alarm monitoring solution across the Ford Dunton Technical Centre. The project involved implementing a large network of Notifier ID3000 and ID3K fire alarm panels connected through SMaRT Cube technology and integrated with multiple AMX monitoring platforms across the site. The scalable infrastructure provided reliable fire detection, real-time alarm visibility, and seamless communication throughout the expanding research and development facility.

Their Challenge

Ford Dunton Technical Centre required a modern and scalable fire safety solution capable of supporting the operational demands of a large automotive research and development campus.

The system needed to provide reliable fire detection and centralised monitoring while ensuring seamless communication between multiple fire alarm panels and monitoring platforms across the estate. As the site continued to expand, the infrastructure also needed to support future growth and increased safety requirements without operational disruption.

The Solution

Drax Technology implemented a large interconnected network of Notifier ID3000 and ID3K fire alarm panels across the technical centre. Using SMaRT Cube technology, the systems were linked together to provide seamless communication and real-time data reporting to multiple AMX graphical monitoring platforms throughout the site.

The installation was designed to integrate efficiently with the technical centre’s existing infrastructure while providing a scalable framework capable of supporting future expansion. Drax Technology also provided ongoing support services to ensure the long-term reliability, maintenance, and operational performance of the fire safety systems as the site continued to evolve.
